Castel Garoupe

I stayed in this hotel before and recently contacted them to book a room in late August. The website confirmed availability but required me to email them for the booking which I did. The reply came back from ‘Celine’ that the dates were not available as the hotel has been sold. The reply was short and rude. Beware! And why is the website still live - wasting everyone’s time. This constitutes misleading advertising. RN

A decent hotel located at the Cap of Antibes. The area is basically a gated community with a couple of stores. Only restuarant close by is at the beach thats really close and worth a visit. Its 2,5km to Antibes but buses depart from the Cap every hour til approx 19:30, after that its either car, your feet or a cab. The hotel is okay. Its clean despite that our first room had ants in the ceiling. The breakfast cost 12€ and it looked way our priced. Every room has a small kitchen so would recommend to it by yourself. The pool area is quite nice. Its seems that owners have spend most of the money recently on the tennis court which looked flawless. The staff is really friendly and helpful.

How this hotel survives I do not know. It is stuck in the past, suffers from little/no investment and overcharges for everyday items that almost all hotels include in the room rate. And it is far from cheap, too. 32 euros to rent 4 pool towels for a day (8euros) each. Are they crazy! 20 euros to use the tennis court that stands empty. Do they not believe that goodwill brings back happy customers and stinging people for basics and then trying to justify such costs just makes them want to stay elsewhere in future?! Maybe if the owners looked after the property better and were a little more generous to guests they would find their hotel full not empty and business good. Breakfast was bland Pool needed a good clean to remove algae and tiles around it required maintenance Room musty. Passageways dark The list could go on. You can do a lot lot better!
