- The room were perfect. Great Aircondition, great bathroom and kitchen facilities and a lovely bed.
- Service both when arriving and during our stay were brilliant.
- Some might think that living without a balcony would be a problem, but me and my girlfriend had a wonderful time and did never feel like we had missed out on one.
- Overall a perfect place, definitely worth a recommendation.

So-so ... That's how i'd describe my stay at Florella Jean De Riouffe.
The hotel was okay. Nothing to go crazy about.
In fact. i should correct - This is NOT actually a hotel. there is NO hotel concierge, no reception. It is a complete private studio flat - just like AirBnB.
You never see the staff here - only communicating by email.
Because there is no reception, you MUST make sure you give your credit card details to them by email (they will charge your card for holding deposit in case any damage/costs). Once they take your credit card details, they will then email you the Access Codes to the building.
IF YOU ARRIVE LATE ON A FLIGHT, AND DO NOT CONFIRM TO THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD TO PRE-CHARGE YOUR CARD, THEY WILL NOT EMAIL YOU THE BUILDING SECURITY ACCESS CODES AND YOU WILL BE LEFT OUTSIDE !!! I felt funny about giving my long card number, card expiry date and three-digit CV pin to someone person via email, but hey..if I didn’t I wouldn’t get it..so has to be done. It’s a bit of a fraud waiting to happen though.
Apart from this, the building is fairly dated, but painted a nice shade of Red. I had room 504 - a fair size. When you come into the residence, there’s bare concrete exposed walls which looks like the plastering hasn’t been finished…. THere’s three sets of security codes - one to get into the main building from the street, one to get into the floor, and one to get into your apartment.
As it's a residence (not a hotel) they have all cooking facilities in the flat cooker/hob, fridge (although small fridge with small freezer compartment), Microwave Oven, toaster, kettle.
They also have good metal Pots, Pans, glass cups, plates and cutlery.
Bed was fairly hard, but do-able. Bed sheets are hard bleach/white - not soft at all.
I had problems trying to speak to anyone about changing the sheets. There’s just no one around, and emailing on the weekend I had to wait to Monday to get a reply.
I think they charge 30euro for change of sheets/clean room maybe.
The internet is GREAT. I mean seriously fast. I was downloading whole movies and streaming Netflix. But hey, use a VPN though when using open wireless networks, especially in hotels.
Because it’s a private flat, you’re gonna wanna buy food to cook. Fresh bread, toast, maybe some pasta, etc. Good shopping links - MonoPrix supermarket and another supermarket very close by. VERY convenient for popping out for munchies late night.
Cable TV had only French channels, certainly no English language, (BBC News/Bloomberg/CNN) etc… but that’s okay - you got internet.
Location could not be faulted. In fact, Location is the only reason I chose this. It’s extremely close (a 1 minute walk) to the Palisade Des Festivals (I was attending the MIDEM Music conference).
It’s also super-close to Cannes Train station - 4 or 5 minute walk. (Do NOT get a taxi from Cannes train station to this hotel such a waste of money - you can walk it in less than 4 minutes - even with luggage. Bring up a Goodie Map, type in Cannes Train Station, and Florella Rioffe Residence and see how close it is.
SO all-in-all, it’s okay.. nothing really wrong with it, its just not that glamorous (as one would think Cannes should be). DEFINITELY NOT A ROMANTIC HOTEL - LOL !
Wouldn’t really recommend it, but if you do stay here, it’s not too bad. I miss the social communal lobby area that a hotel would have - where you can chat and meet other fellow travellers …
But here, you can come and go when you please, bring whoever you please, and just manage yourself.
Enjoy Cannes !
