Chateau Le Cagnard

We had a warm welcome and due to health issues they willingly moved us from the 3rd floor(very difficult climb) to a ground floor room. It had a good view from the window, excellent aircon and a very comfortable bed. This is where the good stuff ended for us. Unfortunately we were there during a heatwave which felt like 43 degs everyday. We thought we would have lunch at their wellness centre as this was the only food available between breakfast and dinner, the wellness centre was a heated plunge pool heated into the 30s with a plastic patio chair next to it and situated indoors. We asked reception about lunch and we didn't really get an answer apart from no. So we climbed up to the village square and had a great meal at Le Jimmys. Dinner was eagerly awaited and we had the Monkfish. The fish was the size of a slice of french baguette with only half of it cooked. We pointed this out to one of the waitresses who insisted it was cooked but would take it back to be cooked more, 2 more pieces arrived half cooked as before. So we ate half of it and left, very expensive mistake. No sides were offered, portions were very small, choice was limited. We prepaid for breakfast and were disappointed by the offering or even that a 2nd cup of tea or coffee came with an additional cost or for that matter a very small plate of fruit for €10. Continental was offered with cucumber, and peppers. The waitresses can only be described as disinterested. They really didn't want to make conversation with anybody. The restaurant opened its roof for breakfast and dinner and has no cooling in the heat apart from a small desk top fan behind the waitress station. For a Small luxury Hotels of the World claim we were bemused not only by the TV only having french TV channels, half of which didn't work but also the service once you are checked in. There is no information in your room of what is available and the app didn't function for room service or anything else.

Just an amazing place with great food and wonderful service. We loved our stay at the hotel and all the good food there. So worth a visit for a dinner too.

We absolutely loved our stay at this charming hotel. It is a luxurious boutique property woven into the stone fabric of a medieval French hilltop village. Our family reserved several rooms, and each one had its own unique character and exquisite décor. One of the highlights was the series of outdoor terraces on multiple levels, offering beautiful spaces to relax and take in the atmosphere. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and every meal was exceptional. The staff was excellent - consistently warm, friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to be accommodating. A most magical, memorable experience.
