At first sight the hotel room looked ok, but after having a closer look one could see that the furniture were damaged like the bed, the toilet, the bath etc. The toilet bowl, for example, was not properly bolted to the floor and resembled a rocking chair. The breakfast was definitely not worth the money. Some days they served old yoghurt (judging by date on the lid) and even when the date had not passed it was still not eatable since they apparently had not stored it properly. At the end we found it safer not to eat breakfast at the hotel even though we had paid for it beforehand. The hotel room was not cleaned well if at all. It looked like the floor had not been wiped in months and there were old candy under the bed. Noticed previous guest toothpaste on wash basin faucet. Also they left us without towels and when we asked for towels they told us that they had trouble with the washing machine and told us we get clean towels in the evening. However we did not get any towels and had to ask for them again the following morning. Even though you would expect better service we tolerated these things. But when someone had gotten the key to our hotel room from the reception desk while we were out, and they had stolen the safety box from our room, that was it! Our passports got stolen, plus one mobile phone, suitcase and some other things. Luckily the thieves did not get anything of more value. We had to go to the police station to file a report and arrange papers so we could travel home without passports. The police were kind to us but we are very disappointed about the hotel manager’s and the hotel owner’s reaction to this. The hotel manager just kept telling us that he did not know what to do and when we insisted on meeting the owner we first had to wait long before he booked a time to meet us. When we finally met him he couldn’t have cared less. He did not compensate us in any way. Extremely incompetent and negligent management, the lack of security and poor conditions is the reason to why we advise everyone to avoid this hotel. An initially more expensive hotel could easily prove a budget alternative compared to this one.

I stayed at this hotel in July. Whilst I don't know about the bait and switch thing that a lot of previous reviewers mention, our stay at the hotel was more than adequate. I agree that the standard was probably more like a B&B but a lot of the hotels in Nice tend to be like this especially with the independent hotels. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Promenade des Anglais and about a 5 min walk from the main strip of restaurants/entertainment. The room was clean, spacious and had free wifi. The bathroom was a little small but more than adequate and clean. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were also very friendly and courteous. Felt I had to write this review in response to some of he very negative reviews although I guess experiences can vary.

Our room looked like a bed and breakfast, with two twin beds with white posts (very comfortable), a beautiful window, large vanity desk with large mirror and sufficient lighting, refrigerator, closet and a beautiful bathroom! We could not find such good, simple amenities at other hotels with similar price. Location was excellent, in city centre, about 10 blocks from the beach! You could walk to everything! Staff was very friendly and helpful (Akram and Carab). Hairdryer and tea kettle in room. Iron downstairs. It's off the main street, so it's quiet, which is sooooo nice! But you should use a map to find it. I loved waking up here and seeing the beautiful room! Very spacious. Only problem is it's hard to wash your hair unless you sit in the tub. there's no standing shower and no curtain. But the tiles are beautiful.
