The hotel is in a reasonable location. About a 20 min walk to the train station and town. About 40 min to the old town. The room is small but quiet with good temp control. Breakfast was ok. The staff were really pleasant and tried hard to make everyone happy

We had a lovely few days here. Wonderful huge shower room, delightful room with windows on 2 sides and a huge comfortable bed. Plenty of storage and a little sofa, and desk, too. The lift is pretty rubbish, slow, tiny, usually filled with staff going up and down with sheets, but what’s 100 steps but good for you? Let down by confusing cafe. The staff are great but it officiously closes at 8pm just when you might want a nice drink outside, and it was never quite clear whether it was really part of the hotel or not. Certainly breakfast was an extra, should you want it. Attractively decorated reception hall and I guess, going by the other reviews, that we were lucky to mainly dodge the (necessary) inconvenience of renovations. If they don’t renovate, people only complain that places are ‘tired’ so I guess they can’t win.

The hotel is in a beautiful building at a few minute walk from the beach and city centre. The hall is spacious and the stuff courteous. We had a good time there. Some points to consider: The room was mediocre. the bathroom's door handle was partially damaged, and the wooden frame's paint was coming off in places. The shower was of good size, but the water pressure rather low. There was only shower gel (of good quality and smell) but no toiletries or lotions. Rather disappointing for the cost of the room. The rest of the room was OK, even though the TV was a flat screen of the 90's, with very poor channels selection. the breakfast was prepared chronically late (in the 4 days we stayed there, the warm food arrived at least 30 min late), but quite varied. A bit disappointing that in such a beautiful place and city, they could not offer proper pastries. Overall, the hotel has a clear advantage, that is the location and the building, but with a little more effort this could be a beauty. On a side note, we asked for a romantic package as it was our wedding anniversary. We found 4 macaroons on a plate, a mini bottle of champagne, and a bunch of ballons on the bed. For the price we paid, this was a bit unimpressive, even though we appreciated the gesture. I asked for an additional bunch of flowers and it was really nice. thanks for this.
