We had the pleasure to stay at Nicholas‘s Villa on the border of Nice and a short drive to the lovely beach in villefranche. We found the room spacious and clean and we could even take along our small cat. We all enjoyed our stay there immensely and can only highly recommend anyone who is looking for a quiet spot in a cul de sac with ample parking and local shops and restaurants nearby.We thank Nicolas for making our week long holiday a memorable one and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. I stayed four days the and arrived approximately at 8 PM in the evening . I took the room key from the lobby box... since at that time Nicolaus the owner was not present. I quickly settled into my bedroom which was quite comfortable a simple full-size bed with a large armoire and large windows. there was no view except for the patio . However the room was very tidy but they need to provide wash cloths in the bathroom. There is no air conditioning but there was a room fan which ventilated the room nicely and it’s a little cooler at this time of the year in Nice. There is no English barrier because the owner speaks good English perhaps just a cultural difference that sometimes seemed awkward with him... A bit stiff. The first night had been paid in advance but I feel that he was not comfortable until I paid the entire balance later on and he seemed more agreeable after that. Breakfast was served which was a small coffee and croissants but I don’t remember him offering that to me even though he said that he did the first night at check in.... which may be the case. however when I came back down the second or third day , it would have been nice to have had that option and for him to check to see if I wanted anything to eat. This is more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel but I did not get that feeling. I definitely feel that there might be more motivation to please French citizens over others but who can really say? sometimes it’s just a cultural difference in the way that people relate. The owner was helpful when I needed to take a cab or two in the area. I would stay a little closer to the old town since it’s quite a walk up and down a hill to get to the old port and about 25 minutes walk to get to The area of old town and Place Masséna. Otherwise you will spend a great deal of money on Uber. All in all it was a pleasant experience which provided a clean and quiet location with some old world charm and reasonably priced for Nice that time of year.
