My girlfriend and I booked this self catering apartment for a week in June as it looked peaceful and comfortable, and away from the family oriented camping areas and places such as Marineland in Antibes - we didn't want to be anywhere near there!
We had booked for late arrival, which meant that I had to call a couple of days in advance to make sure that everything was in order and to find out what to do to get into the apartment upon arrival. I spoke with a very kind gentleman in reception who knew straight away who I was and why I was calling, he told me where to find the key and how to get in no problem.
When we arrived late on our first day, we had a bit of trouble finding the entrance as it is down a road that loops around a park - there are no street lights so it was impossible to see the gate at first, and we had to do a few laps before spotting it. After that, we had to park the car around the corner in pitch black and walk to the gate and use the code to enter, and then - again in pitch black - try and find where the key was. I can see how this could be annoying to some, but it was a little adventure for us, especially as our phones had died by this point! We found the keys, headed back to the car in the dark, and went in using the remote gate key. We parked the car in the underground car park and headed to the flat, which was on the ground floor.
The flat itself (for us) was on the ground floor, and had no view to speak of from the balcony, just a corrugated iron wall of the building next door and some cars and feral cats. It was a small apartment, with two bunk beds by the door, and a fold out couch as the double bed in the living / dining / kitchen area. The bathroom was a decent size, with a full size bath, but no way of putting the shower head anywhere above tap height. The kitchenette was a fridge, sink, microwave, and a two hob electrical stove - which we later found, after thinking it was broken, is operated on a timer which has to be turned first before it turns on.
The apartment was very clean, the fold out bed was firm but comfortable. There was one roll of toilet paper, no cleaning supplies save for a couple of brooms to sweep up.
The swimming pool is a communal one shared with a few other apartment blocks, access is gained using a blue key fob. This was not given to us, so we couldn't get in the first time we went, thankfully some people there were kind enough to let us in. I spoke with the reception man, and he was very apologetic and put one on the keyring straight away as there should have been one. The pool is a good size, again very clean, and if you time it well you can get it to yourself for a few hours no problem!
Overall, the place is very - VERY - basic, but that's not to say its bad. Far from it, the reception service was absolutely excellent, the gentleman in there is very accommodating and pleasant - when I stupidly dropped a plate I went to pay for it and he just dismissed it and said it wasn't anything to worry about at all. You must clean up the flat before you leave, and provide everything yourself, but there is a large supermarket just a five minute walk away so not a problem.
Location-wise, its a perfect little base to sleep in and get ready. The train station is just a five minute walk away, and from there you can get to Antibes (or just walk as its 3 miles along the beach!) and Cannes one way, and Nice, Villefranche Sur Mer, and Monaco the other - all for very reasonable prices. Buses all stop at the station.
The station is right by the beach, which has some great little restaurants on it - Beach Paradise was our favourite as the service, food, and general vibe there was spot on. Bring sandals / flip flops for the beach, though, as the pebbles get a little painful after a bit of walking.
I would recommend this place, as it is very well priced, comfortable, with a good pool, good staff, and in a good location. If all you need is a little base to sleep in, this is spot on - be careful with showers, though, as hot water disappears quick! There is also no air conditioning or WIFI (I think you may have to pay extra for both of these, but I'm not sure). If you need more from your hotel, look elsewhere, but you'll pay more!
