Hotel Chut

The stay was booked and paid through Hotels.com but upon check-out, the staff who did not speak English charged us for the stay again. Support from Hotels.com did not help or convince the staff that the stay was in fact paid and the hotel management did not respond to calls from the staff. The hotel later confirmed that the money was incorrectly charged and explained that the mistake was due to change of ownership. Two months later we are yet to receive the return of money and the hotel no longer responds to e-mails but claims that the previous owner ''Ms Henriet'' is responsible. The ownership of the hotel should be irrelevant when booking through an agency. The procedure seems to be deliberate and I guess you run a good business when you can charge guests double.

I have been in this little private hotel for several times. To my surprise this time I got a room of aproximately 8m2 with a window of the size of an arrow loop, on the ground floor, between kitchen and back entrance. So I had to witness the cleaning of the kitchen, the dishes and the dishwasher after the restaurant closed and the preparing of breakfast before it opened. In between at night the other guests came home using the back door. The tiny washing cell, integrated into the room, lacked of any insinuation of comfort (only one water tap for cold water at the lavabo, no racks not even for a toothbrush, empty shampoo/shower-gel, no towel bars etc). This room costed 97€ (!!) per night! I did not get any reaction to my polite complaint.

This hotel was a bit disappointment. Bathroom has no door in this luxury room we had. There was just a translucent movable was, one meter apart from the door opening. No sound proofing, only see not so much, and hear 100%. Not very romantic. Also sound proofing level was zero for the noises outside. 6 am when the garbage is taken away, you cant sleep anymore. Price was way too high in comparison to these facts. The TV was a tiny screen in the closet, we found it accidentally. Room itself was very clean, and bed was good. For this price you would expect to have a 24 h reception.
