We recently stayed at this hotel over a weekend in early September 2026. The location of the hotel given its proximity to the city center is great. The grounds, common areas, and restaurant are beautiful. However, the rooms are severely in need of modernization and updating. We had an extra large room with generous space, but the bathroom and most of the finishes in the room were horrible. Everything looked like it was 40 or more years old, not maintained well, and the bathroom even seemed a little dirty. The water in the swimming pool was constantly filled with leaves from the trees, not being cleaned or properly filtered. For the price of this hotel, we felt it was highly overpriced for the quality of our stay.

We were so excited to stay here and really wanted to love this place, however it does not live up to a five star hotel. We booked the hotel for our honeymoon, notifying staff in advance and unfortunately there was no acknowledgement and service was somewhat stiff. The rooms are fairly dated with our room having a poorly patched up hole from the door handle. The pool was also unheated and unpleasant to swim in. The redeeming factor for the hotel is the beautiful garden/outdoor space, however the price does not justify the stay.

The Hotel Le Pigonnet in Aix en Provence was a delightful experience. This boutique hotel is outside the main hub bub of the town, about a ten minute walk, and is a quiet, charming and a beautiful escape. The garden area of the hotel is lovely, and their outdoor dining terrace, perfect for a romantic dinner. Inside the hotel, the furnishings and decor are superb. We stayed in a very large garden suite, with two separate bedrooms and bathrooms and a large living area. Two patio areas to relax, although the mosquitoes were everywhere! Cannot say enough about Hotel Le Pigonnet.
