Appart'hotel Victoria Garden La Ciotat

My son is working in the area for a couple of weeks, so my daughter in law myself and my 3 grandsons joined him for a short break. I read the reviews, and was a bit worried! However, we were going to be late, were told reception shut at 7pm and we were still some distance away, a phone call was made and a very helpful receptionist gave instructions, gate code and apt number and assured us we could check in the next morning which we duly did, no problem at all, the only thing was we had to pay local tax which we weren’t aware of. We had a junior suite on the top floor, large lounge kitchen area with bed settee, double bedroom, bunk beds just inside the front door in a corridor which was a bit odd, but no problem, shower over bath and separate toilet. Clean bedding and towels, we asked for more pillows and were given more with no problem. There is an Aldi next door which was handy! Lovely pool area which was cleaned every evening. It is a bit out of the way with no car, but we walked into the town of la Ciotat to the beach a couple of times with no problem, there is a rocky small beach close by if you just want to sit and watch the sea. The weekend was very busy, seems to be popular for weekend get together. Mid week we had the place to ourselves.

we arrived at 20:00, nobody there, a phone number is displayed. nobody picking up for 30 min. Not nice when you had a long day. Finally somebody picked up and explained how to get in. Reception locked, keys in the open room. wifi code at reception- useless. room otherwise ok. Breakfast: Baguettes, butter, jam & Nutella. no eggs, no yoghurt, nothing

We booked because of location to our friend’s house and cost. A few days before we arrived, the hotel sent us a form to complete. One question, what time will you arrive, before 4, between 4 and 7 and after 7. We were arriving before 4, we got an email reply saying not to bother coming to hotel because no one would be there. We should come at 4, earliest. That set the tone of the stay. When we arrived, we were told that we had to wash all dishes used, we had to put our towels in the bath, we had to take all our rubbish to central bins at the back of the hotel and strip the beds, putting the bedding in the bath. The hotel directory told us that at weekends the breakfast was between 8.30-10:30. We arrived at 10:10. A lady was taking everything away and fir 5 minutes kept telling us that it was impossible that we had been advised breakfast was open until 10:30. Even the receptionist chipped in saying she had told us it was 10. So, all in all, this is definitely not an hotel. The service is one sided, it seems the guests have to do most of the work, and the “hotel” v little. No water in the room, when I stripped the bed, it showed that the pillows had rust or something rather brown on it, it sent shudders. If you need a hotel for children, it was a small one tucked up on the wall, quite high. However, the pool looked very lovely. It’s not an intimate place to stay, but for one night, then maybe ok. But not for us ever again.
