Radisson Blu Marseille Vieux Port

The heatwave won't stop us from spending our summer vacation in our favorite city and our favorite hotel. There is no need to list here, once again, the countless positive points of the Radisson Blu Vieux Port: -the incomparable location, -the efficiency and kindness of the staff at all levels, - the more than tempting breakfast buffet, - the modern yet cozy and warm room with its breathtaking view of the Old Port, - top-notch air conditioning in the rooms, particularly appreciated during this heatwave, just like the pleasant rooftop pool, - and also, last but not least, a bus (No. 83) that serves the most touristy neighborhoods of Marseille and stops right in front of the hotel!!

What else to do but positively confirm our impressions, which perfectly justify the repetition of our stays: Perfect location, excellent welcome, staff always attentive and smiling. Comfortable room, sanitary facilities as well, which only confirms the impression felt upon arrival in the lobby and at the reception. Fully deserves the 5 stars above! To keep in mind for any stay in Marseille, whether private or for seminars!

Because of a few reasons I can sadly say that I could not fully enjoy my stay in this beautiful hotel. The blatant racism and discrimination between the rankings of the staff broke my heart, and it's the reason I will never be going there again. In all reception and waiting positions at the hotel, there were ONLY light skinned persons. And then, occupying the lowest positions (the cleaning staff), I never saw ANYONE except dark skinned people! It filled me with rage until the point of crying tears mixed with anger and sadness on my last day (I stayed almost a week). That day I saw a BOY who definitely was younger than I am (21 years old), scrubbing the floors in the lobby. He dared not even look in my direction, let alone talk to me! It felt as if I was transported back to an age of segregation and I so lamented the fact that, cleaning up other peoples dirt was probably going to be that young man's destiny. He is likely never going to be in my privileged position, where he can stay in a four star hotel and have other people clean up after him. This hotel isn't even ashamed of the fact that they give light skinned people the better paid and visible jobs, and give the invisible, physical and low-waged jobs to black people! What's even more interesting is the fact that Marseille is a famously mixed city of people of all colours. I do not understand how this beautiful and well situated hotel can get away with this very obvious and unapologetic racism in this year of 2026! This is unforgiving behavior and results in the fact that I will certainly not be staying in a Radisson Blu Hotel EVER AGAIN!
