Hotel du Cheval Blanc

This very old, run down and desperately needing repair hotel has only two things going for it—convenient to the city centre and close parking for Saturday morning's market. Be careful sitting on the toilet, the seat may fall off. Thank goodness for the air conditioning which kept out the noise of the busy street. Personally, I would pass on this one.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel earlier this week. The bathroom was so unclean that my wife would not use the shower this morning. I discovered that old used bars of soap and shampoo packets had been left above the shower stall wall. Wi-Fi in the room was very slow or not working at all, unless I stepped outside into the hallway. The telephone in the room did not work properly. I could only call out and I could not be heard by my friend who was less than a mile away. When I complained to the woman at reception, she said that none of the phones were working and there was nothing she could do about it. After raising my voice a bit, the lady at reception did give me her cell phone to use to call my friend. Noise from the rooms next door was disturbing and could be heard throughout the night. The breakfast was rather sparse and unsuitable for anyone with special diet needs. However, the air conditioning in the room worked well. The advertised parking spaces on site were not adequate in number for all guests and I had to park some distance away. I would never stay in this hotel again.

We spent two nights in Hotel du Cheval Blanc during our mini stay in the beautiful St Remy de Provence. Pros: + Location. Right next to the town centre. Easy access to the town. Easy to find. + Service. Staff rather friendly and helpful. Missed a little bit of warm welcoming. and then the cons: - Parking. Hotel parking spaces are very limited. We were obliged to park our car pretty far from the hotel. But I guess we were not just lucky with the timing. - Really bad sewer smell in our room. Not a very good first impression. - Noise isolation is poor. You will know what your neighbours are talking about or are doing. - Price. Little bit pricey for what you get.
