Vallon De Valrugues

Hotel still just as splendid. We have been going there for the sixth time. And we are still just as delighted. The staff is very pleasant and available. The rooms are very clean and very large. The dining is top-notch. We are 10 minutes from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and many other small villages. I thank the whole team and I tell them. See you soon.

We had another very enjoyable stay at Le Vallon de Valrugues with our family. It is always a pleasure to come back, and the hotel continues to offer a wonderful Provençal atmosphere. The setting and gardens are beautiful, and the Rosemary Suites are amazing spacious, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing family stay. The pool area and surrounding gardens are also lovely and really give you that special Provence feeling. Another great service is the hotel shuttle, which takes you into the town centre or to nearby restaurants. We have known the two drivers for several years now, and they are always extremely friendly, professional, and helpful. They also have excellent knowledge of the region and are happy to provide recommendations and information. Breakfast is served as a buffet and offers a very good selection. However, one change this year was difficult to understand: even when breakfast is included, fried eggs are now charged separately. Considering the room rate is over €800 per night and the breakfast buffet itself costs more than €40, this feels out of touch with the level of hospitality and customer experience one would expect from a hotel of this standard. Unfortunately, the main disappointment this time was the restaurant. Since the change of chef, the evening menu has become rather basic while prices remain quite high. The restaurant staff are friendly, but the service and organization could be improved. This is especially unfortunate because the restaurant used to complement the overall quality of the hotel much better. Overall, Le Vallon de Valrugues remains a beautiful hotel that we really enjoy visiting as a family. The setting, gardens, pool, suites, shuttle service, and many of the long-standing staff make it a special place to return to. With some adjustments from management particularly regarding the restaurant, service organization, and breakfast policy it could easily return to the excellent overall standard we have experienced here in previous years.

The room and the hotel amenities are very good. Nothing to say. On the other hand, as for the restaurant, it is not quite there. Paying $41 for a bit of shredded lamb that is nothing special is clearly an abuse. Furthermore, burning coffee to drive away wasps is extremely unpleasant during a meal. I will return to the hotel but will avoid the dining.
