Great central location Bright and clean Noisy at night - La Rochelle does not sleep

Excellent location, elevator, service and clean are the best features of this property. Is an old building, very well maintained, but room and bathroom are very small. Which is typical of French hotels. The breakfast offers a wide variety of items in a small but efficient space, sitting around 20 people. The staff is attentive, courteous and willing to help. Our room door gave us a lot of problems closing and/or opening with the magnetic card. After two days it got resolved. The mini fridge didn't cool enough but the air conditioning worked very well. The location is walking distance to car park, Tourist Office, restaurants, Aquarium and the old town. There is no need to rent a bike. It is good value. Rooms facing the waterfront can get noisy and we heard next room guests telephone conversations. Room 23 faces the Church on the side street with a beautiful view. The hotel is generally calm.

I don't think there is any hotel from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the old harbor like the one you get from the rooms with a balcony. Furthermore, the French window has soundproof glass, so you cannot hear the noises and music coming from the small square. The room was clean and I appreciated the magic drawer where there was every useful accessory... even the shoehorn. In the lobby, there are also umbrellas available. Not a minor detail, the hallway has an emergency exit. The breakfast was excellent and there is everything from sweet to savory. The hotel is in a limited traffic zone, but by calling them, they will lower "the bollard" so you can arrive to unload your luggage. It does not have a private parking lot, but the public Vieux Port Sud one is very convenient, spacious, and nearby.
