So, we've been told many, many times that if you want to travel in France during August, you had better book your hotel. Well, Corsica was a last minute decision for us - so, you know it. When my wife,17 year old daughter and I got off the train in Ajaccio, we figured we'd have no problem because it's a large enough city. Well we were wrong. Everything was booked. Every room in town. But, through an usual series of events, and good luck, and because the staff working at the Hotel Imperial were amazing, we were able to stay 2 nights at this hotel. The room on the first night was a tad cozy for three, but we moved into a larger room for our second night. Both rooms were great: nicely designed, modern, clean. Staff working different shifts at the front desks on the two separate days were EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. Plus a great location: on a major bus route, close to beaches and patisseries, and a nice stroll into the city centre.

The hotel is located across the road from the beach and a free parking area, a restaurant and beach bar. It was very pleasant having a drink on the beach and the food in the restaurant was good. On the corner is a fruit shop and across the road a boulangerie and patisserie. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was big enough, the bed comfortable and the aircon and wifi worked well. It's a bit far from the centre.

Probably the best adjective to describe this hotel is the french "vétuste", which means outdated, without much charm or taste. On a positive note, the staff is friendly, the beach right I front is nice and there's a free parking place right in front of the hotel. The city center is a 15 min walk away. The hotel has currently three stars, I think it is actually worth two.
