We have just returned from an unexpected stay at this Bastide Hotel.
We have travelled the world and stayed in some of the most luxurious hotels. Often we were very disappointed and did not live up to their descriptions. We went there with an open mind, after reading the many glowing TripAdvisor reviews, often very personal and sometimes inaccurate.
We really would have preferred not to have to post these personal comments, as I wanted to keep this great hotel to myself and not to post our own impressions.
But the Esplanade deserves a full publication, in our opinion.
From our booking and telephone Welcoming by Cecile, very friendly, until our departure, it was a pure moment of joy and honesty. It brought back so many fond memories of the time when we ourselves managed a first-rate guest house for more than 30 years.
We are therefore perfectly familiar with the hotel trade.
We tried to find faults, but each time we were pleasantly surprised, and in a very positive way.
The hearty breakfasts, the excellent dinners prepared by the chef owner, Mr. Pascal Bouland, and his competent team, the magnificent dining room with historical decor, the exceptional presentation of the dishes, the outdoor patio, the magnificent sunsets, the warm Service of the owner, Mrs. Sophie Bouland, and her very friendly staff, the superb room with perfectly functional shower, etc. and, finally, "open your window and let the magnificent view of the Dordogne valley soothe you".
In short.
It is increasingly difficult and rare to find this type of accommodation in France and feel at home with such an exceptional Welcoming.
Many thanks to all for making our stay so pleasant. In the meantime, you know we will be back in October before you close for a well-deserved rest.
Guillaume and Ren.
