Manoir Du Grand Vignoble

The hotel grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed a lovely al fresco lunch looking out towards the trees and pastures. Breakfast was simple but tasty and got the job done. The rooms were a little beat up, the bathroom small and dingy. It wasn't the easiest moving luggage around because of a few small stairs here and there. Overall the staff were lovely.

We stayed here for two nights with our granddaughter. All meals were outside which was lovely as we had good weather. Food fine and our room was a decent size to have a single bed for our granddaughter. Staff pleasant and although in need of a refurbishment, was typical of a french country hotel and in easy reach of places to go in the day time.

Stayed here one night. Our booked standard room said it had a ‘large double bed’. It did not: it was a 120cm bed in a tiny hot room in the attic. This despite my stating in our booking notes that my husband is 6’8”. I received no apology and the only solution offered was for me to pay the full price of a upgrade to get the bed size promised. We took the room and moved our belongings then went for lunch. We were then told - at 1.25pm that the kitchen was closed!? For LUNCH!? In a HOTEL!?! They grumpily offered a plate of crudités, which we accepted (we had no choice, being miles from anywhere) - only to find we were charged 15€ each for some lettuce leaves, slices of tomato and cheese!? The three course lunch was 22€ ( but they would not allow us any other course). Our room was dark and damp smelling with tired and grubby looking furnishings. The shower head was not attached to the wall (France circa 1985) and was mouldy. We had to literally move furniture to use the one socket for my hairdryer anywhere near a mirror (the bathroom hairdryer was, again, out of the Ark and not suitable for hair styling). Even with ALL the lights on it was too dark to get dressed, so we had to pull the ground floor curtains, with no net, aside and hope nobody would walk past our room....The pool was nice with lovely morning shad from trees - fortunate as the umbrellas were decrepit and tiny. Similarly the pool house was filthy with no toilet paper. I knew when booking that the place was somewhat tired from the photos: I had no issue with that, and concluded that the room rates reflect that considering the location and what well appointed rooms would surely cost at such a property. However, dirty shower heads, rubbish light bulbs and, above all, rude and unhelpful staff are a deal breaker (as is dishonesty about bed sizes) and this was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in a v long time. We would have liked to have stayed for lunch the next day and enjoyed the pool some more, but we could not bring ourselves to put any more of our money the hotel’s way after being treated so poorly. Additionally, we were there alongside many friends and family who had similar experiences, including my sisters literally having to insist they be able to book that evening for dinner after they checked in at 6pm!?! Fawlty Towers - without the entertainment value. AVOID.
