LE CLOS DU PRINCE

This hotel was part of a wine tour. The operator was very friendly and helpful however the hotel itself and in particular the grounds and swimming pool area are not being maintained. It appears to be understaffed yet has lots of potential. The rooms are nice and comfortable ( although ours did not have a window) and the food for dinner and breakfast very basic. Signage on the hotel is non existent so that is also another area of improvement needed. Unless they take measures to make this hotel easier to find, maintain the yards and external lighting, and improve the food I would not recommend staying here.

We had visited Clos du Prince a few years back, in 2011, and we had been really pleasantly surprised. Following our first impeccable visit we again stayed for a couple of days, when needed a base to stay in Entre-deux-mers. This time round though we were a bit dissapointed. It is true that the little hotel passed under new management since our first visit. We found the place a little tired, and needing of attention. Especially the grounds and the gardens, where pots were empty laying around. The breakfast as well was somewhat reduced. The ingredients were fresh, but no fresh pancakes for the kids this time. Of note, when we said to the kids that we are going to visit again the Clos du Prince immediately they remembered the fresh buttery pancakes. So good they were the first time. The rooms were clean, no problem on that side, and of course the surrounding area still lovely. Still it is one of the best B&Bs of the area, so we hope that any changes can be for the better in the future.

Me and my girlfriend went to a wedding in Bordeaux and wanted somewhere quiet for a few days so we could make a holiday of it. And this didn't disappoint. Not only was Thierry and his wife really friendly and welcoming but the building and the grounds were beautiful. A really well kept place. We was always being asked if we needed anything but not to the point where we wasn't left alone to just enjoy our time there. The breakfast was simple but lovely. Would really recommend it to couples that want a quiet getaway.
