Hotel Cote D'argent

Very good welcome with our dog. Pleasant and attentive staff. We loved the signature dish.

Great location, run away for the rest The only +: The beachfront location in Lacanau. For the rest, avoid it. Reception: The manager doesn't even look up, barely a "hello," no smile. Aggressive tone when we simply asked for a 3rd towel for a room booked for 3 people. Same thing on the day of arrival at 2:00 PM for a simple question about the room. The establishment: Dilapidated building despite announced "renovations." No reception. The entrance is through the service staircase where the staff eats and smokes. Permanent cigarette smell in the hallways. Lobby filled with bicycles. It feels like a youth hostel without the benefits. Safety / Comfort: Broken barrier / railing = absolute danger. See photo. Non-existent insulation: cardboard walls. You can hear the neighbors as if they were in the room. Impossible to sleep. The icing on the cake: Management that doesn't greet customers with a smile posts a sign at the entrance asking customers to be "pleasant with the staff." Never seen that before. It feels like they just want to make money off people's backs. Even with the great location, keep moving. Note to self: I should have trusted the negative reviews from travelers. There are plenty of nice rentals on Airbnb right on the waterfront if you are looking for the ideal location!

The staff is very attentive at the hotel as well as in the restaurant (including breakfast service). The meals are very appetizing, good, prepared with care, and served quickly and with a smile...plus a bowl of water for the dog...very appreciated during the heatwave...simple but impeccably clean and air-conditioned rooms, very comfortable bedding. Our second stay, unfortunately cut short, but there will be others.
