Grand Hotel D'Orleans

Before I retired I was a hotelier. The room maid ignored the standards required in a hotel room I found 13 points that were not normal. Dust everywhere and if you don’t believe me ; look under the bed-the dust is in lumps. Dust on the kettle tray and the bed head, even the TV remote was dusty. The hairdryer was so dirty from hundreds of hands I didn’t dare to touch it. Mould was all around the base of the shower room. The sink had weird marks around the rim. On the wall around the there were marks from previous occupants and could have been removed (I tested some)The mirror was tired. The TV kept going off after 20 minutes. If there was a timer, I saw no instruction how to stop that happening. I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and it was more sad than now. ( there was a safety box that didn’t work) so I imagined the hotel had been renovated - hard to notice.

Hotel very well located in relation to the train station, but the two times we went there, we had a room facing the street (sleepless night) and the second time a room on the first floor at the top of the stairs, with very noisy guests passing by until 11:30 PM. Otherwise, the breakfast buffet is plentiful.

We had walked by so many times when we lived nearby - usually ending up in the bar on the corner while we waited for our train - but never went in, let alone stayed. We needed somewhere dog-friendly while revisiting our old haunts and stayed based on the good reviews. And it was good. Staff were great. It was a bit quirky but .... Food was good too. Being right beside the train station made it great for traveling to Gaillac and Lisle-sur-Tarn. Let's put it this way: we'd go back if we were in the region again.
