Good centrally located hotel which is in walking distance to the piste and on the Main Street of the resort. For being on the main drag, it is also very quite as you cannot hear any revellers returning home in the early hours of the morning. Our room was a good size, warm, clean and basic. Beds are comfortable and a good quantity and variety of pillows available. Val D'Isere is a top resort and this is probably the best value you will find if you do not want to pay an arm and leg for the privilege of skiing here. Rooms are cleaned every day, continental breakfast is available every day. This is a no frills experience. Would I stay there again? The answer is 'yes' because as with most skiing holidays I would not expect to be spending time my room all day. I'd be on the piste.

Trying to be fair here.
The lady who clearly owns the place is lovely, despite little or no English. My schoolboy French useless, but fudged through the old fashioned way with hand gestures etc...
She sits either behind the front desk or in the lobby (which though tiny, also serves as the breakfast area) - however, given her advancing years clearly she can't be there all day. Hence my first complaint - unmanned reception at various times of day. The room keys are not even behind a locked reception bar, they're on open display where available to anyone wondering in, & taking their pick of the contents of the bedrooms.
Thinking on, pretty much everything wrong with this place probably due to its not being modernised/reinvested in over the decades - our room, No 27, had a toilet which sounded like it had an onboard motor & cranked up literally every 20 mins, 24/7. 24/7. really. Beware ! Peak demand cold showers/luke warm taps (I.E nightly, between 7 & 8pm), Tired decor throughout, peeling wallpaper in corridors, tiny bathrooms with even tinier shower cubicles. All very clean I should add, but yet another example of the apparent total lack of money spent on this hotel.
Worst thing for me however. was the breakfast.... dried up ham/salami/cheese which looked suspiciously like it was put out daily, 1 option of muesli & cornflakes, & rationed coffee & juice... & 1 croissant each. Hard boiled eggs, pitiful selection of yogurt, that was it. We eat breakfast out therefter.
Such a shame, but theres a reason why its so cheap in what is the one of the most expensive towns in the French Alps.
I booked at short notice to visit our daughter working in Val & thought it can't be that bad.... but sadly it is.
I sincerely hope the lovely old girl decides to sell, to allow it to redeveloped to reflect its prime location.
If location & price is all you need, fine - otherwise say clear.
Oh & the wifi only works in the lobby.

The hotel is in a great central location. It's functional - safe, clean, warm, provides hot water all day, wifi and a great breakfast!
Admittedly the decor and furniture is mismatched and odd to say the least and not much of a bar but if your looking for luxury then go elsewhere. If you want value for money and good access to the slopes have look. The staff are friendly and helpful.
