We rented privately in this apartment block via Airbnb and were a little concerned that when we got the address it seemed at the very start of the resort. Not having been to Avoriaz before this was a concern. Having got here it is the best place location wise for us to have choosen - it is the closest to the drop off area for transfers and closest to the ski schools and walking through the resort only takes a few minutes. The supermarket is literally around the corner and there is a bakers and restaurants around.
Last night was a little noisey as there is a couple of restaurants/ bars around.
The apartment is very little - for myself and my two year old it was fine but there is little to no storage space for clothes. There are two bunks then a bathroom and a kitchen / bedroom with a double sofa bed. Very clean and lots of plates, linen fresh but no towels!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a brilliant skiing area lots for beginners and children and a huge area for you to ski in - I would definitely come back again but would want a larger apartment. We did have a ski locker which was helpful.

I have just returned from a trip to Avoriaz and stayed in the Duchka apartments, which were great. The location was superb, staff, facilities and décor etc excellent, and I will certainly return. The supermarket is one minute walk, bars even closer and riding to and from the door just completes the package. Thank you for making my stay so enjoyable.

Just returned home after a weeks ski trip staying at the residence douchka in avoriaz. On the whole the holiday was a success. I can only say the down side was the noise level of the French after a night on the town!! It was the worst place we had stayed for this(youngsters enjoying themselves a little too much)
The accommodation itself was a typical Pierre and vacance studio. Adequate for four people but no frills. It was always warm, cleanish with plenty of hot water. There was a small cleaning pack on arrival ie dishwasher tablets, cleaning cloth and washing up liquid, very useful. The nearest Supermarket was on the doorstep, just outside ski locker room very convenient. Plenty of pubs and restaurants around the festival area with a few bars with happy hour.
On arrival to resort there is like a small bus station where you transfer your luggage from the coach onto a trailer that delivers it to your residence. Good service although if you are taken it costs!
Skiing wasn't to the door but not far off, 25m to ski in or out. Skiing was harder as it snowed everyday and they didn't seem to piste the runs.
We would return but would choose when we went very carefully. Definitely avoid busy times like Christmas or Easter think it could get unbearable then.
Hope this is of use.
