A very high-quality hotel with friendly and attentive staff, a beautiful, quiet, and spacious room for the three of us, and a breakfast that offers a good range of products. A good stay in Fougères.

Very warm welcome, spacious and comfortable room, hearty and good breakfast, secure garage. Hotel and location perfect for visiting Fougères and the castle on foot, Do not associate the restaurant des voyageurs next door as it is very average.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn other travelers. This hotel was an enormous disappointment. We visited during a major heat wave, and there was no air conditioning. Far worse, is that this was not clearly disclosed when we booked nor was it communicated to us as it became known there was a major heat wave going through France (one that has killed several hundreds across Europe). The room felt over 100°F (38°C) and completely unbearable. A family member has a condition that makes them prone to fainting and this was just not going to work for us. It would be impossible to sleep or even comfortably stay in the room to relax . To make matters worse, our sauna of a room didn’t have TOILET PAPER when we checked in. The parking situation was also frustrating. It was difficult to find (with again no advance warning that there is construction around the property), and we later learned that the garage closes at 10:00 p.m. with no access to your vehicle afterward. We were in town for a wedding that would end much later, making this completely impractical. This restriction was never made clear before our arrival. Given all of these issues, we kindly asked to be refunded so we could comfortably stay elsewhere, but the hotel refused. We ultimately chose to leave anyway and accept the financial penalty because staying simply wasn’t an option. I understand that older hotels may not have air conditioning, but that information should be made unmistakably clear—especially during a heat wave. At least open a window before our arrival and let in some fresh air! It would have been nice to receive some sort of communication in advance to prepare us for our stay (there was none - not even a “your stay is coming up” type email). Transparency would have allowed us to book somewhere else. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
