Top-notch residence. Above all, do not trust the negative comments, they are misleading. Very well-maintained grounds, very clean tennis court. The pool and its terrace invite you to relax. The lounge chairs are judiciously placed. The small house is comfortable, well laid out, clean, sufficient dishes, plenty of duvets and pillows. The people at the reception are very attentive to the guests, kind, give good advice, and are empathetic. I recommend it without reservation, this is my first stay. I would add that it is very quiet. Everything is there for a pleasant and relaxing stay.

The only real positive point of this Les Jardins Renaissance holiday village is its location. The region is magnificent, rich in history, heritage, and activities. Azay-le-Rideau is a particularly pleasant town, and makes an excellent starting point for discovering the many tourist sites in the surrounding area. Unfortunately, once the discovery of the area is over, disappointment quickly sets in. 🏚️ Aging infrastructure and very insufficient maintenance The entire site gives a general impression of dilapidation and lack of maintenance. In our unit, a very strong sewer smell came from the bathroom. After running hot water and reporting the problem to the front desk, it finally disappeared after two days. The wall coverings and floors are degraded, some furniture is heavily damaged, or even presents an unappealing appearance. Cleanliness is also very disappointing: windows and ventilation vents are clearly poorly maintained, contact surfaces give an unpleasant sensation of a greasy film, and dishes whose cleanliness leaves much to be desired. For an establishment welcoming vacationers, this level of maintenance is hardly acceptable. 🔊 Almost non-existent privacy Another big problem: the insulation and the proximity between the units. The adjoining units allow you to enjoy, very much against your will, the daily life of the neighbors. Plumbing noises, toilets, stairs, movement, and furniture that creaks or is moved… everything becomes perfectly audible, including late at night. Near midnight, hearing noises coming from the neighboring unit distinctly is absolutely not pleasant when you are simply trying to sleep. Outside, the "semblance of a terrace" in front of the living room consists of simple gravel slabs, with no real separation between the units. Result: practically no privacy. And it is not particularly pleasant to have lunch quietly at the table when some owners come to have their dog urinate a few feet away from you. 🏊 A pool that raises questions The pool is very small given the site's capacity. During our stay, the water was cloudy and particularly harsh on the eyes and skin. This leaves one, to say the least, perplexed as to the quality of the treatment and the monitoring of the water's balance. Without being able to confirm the exact cause without an analysis, a rigorous check of the water parameters would clearly seem necessary. The eyes sting intensely and people with sensitive skin risk not enjoying the experience. Swimming goggles and a thorough shower after swimming seem almost essential. 🧖 The "SPA"... let's stay zen Regarding the SPA area, we simply could not really enjoy it. The terms of use seemed quite restrictive, particularly with reception opening hours that do not necessarily facilitate its use and an announced heating time for the device. At this stage, it is therefore difficult to give an opinion on this facility... other than that it was not really accessible to us under good conditions. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ And yet... an establishment rated 4 stars! This is probably the point that most reinforced our disappointment. The establishment is clearly presented as a 4-star holiday village, which is notably displayed on brochures as well as at the entrance to the parking lot. Quite honestly, considering the general state of the infrastructure, the cleanliness, the maintenance, the level of insulation, and the services observed during our stay, this rating seemed extremely difficult to understand. We chose this establishment by relying in particular on this rating and we naturally expected a certain level of comfort, quality, and maintenance. The gap between this 4-star promise and the reality experienced was a real source of disappointment. I would not presume to claim that the rating is "misleading" in the legal sense of the term, but as a customer, it is legitimate to wonder how an establishment in this condition can be presented and perceived as a 4-star. A rating of this level inevitably creates expectations. Here, they are very far from having been met. ❌ In conclusion What could have been a pleasant stay in a magnificent region is unfortunately spoiled by an establishment that seems to need a major renovation and, above all, a serious effort in maintenance. The contrast is all the more regrettable as the region is superb. 👉 Azay-le-Rideau is well worth the detour, with its castle, its heritage, its landscapes, and the multitude of visits and activities accessible in the surrounding area. That is precisely what saves the value of the stay in our eyes. But it is really a shame that an accommodation establishment located in such a remarkable area gives such an aging and neglected image. A site like this one clearly does not do Azay-le-Rideau any favors. On the contrary, it contributes to tarnishing the image and beauty of a tourist area that actually deserves much better. For our part, we will not repeat the experience and we invite future visitors to research thoroughly before booking and, above all, not to expect the level of service that the "4-star" designation might lead one to hope for.
