Acqs Hotel

Trip advisor April, 2016 acqs ACQS hotel is a small relatively modern hotel, immediately opposite the railway station in DAX but, surprisingly, there is little or no audible train noise or, at least when I stayed there that was the situation. It is easy to find, there is free car parking and one disabled parking space. When booking in, the receptionist indicated that she had little or no English speaking ability or knowledge but, then proceeded to ask me if I wanted “Breakfast the following day!” The hotel is relatively clean and, for children under three years, stay free of charge when using existing beds. There is no extra charge for use in a cot, provided by the hotel. All major credit cards I accepted and it is advisable to book in advance using the trip advisor facility or failing that, booking.com. When I stayed at ACQS it was a Sunday evening and there was no provision for food at ACQS. Despite this I was able to find a suitable eating establishment within a close distance although I did drive to the venue. The hotel is a clean, easy to find in a location and ideal for an unplanned or even a planned1 night stay - maybe longer if you wish to explore this part of France. It's turned out to be a relatively cold night when I stayed but, the central heating radiators quickly warmed up my room and remained on all night. My room had a small balcony overlooking the main road, looking towards the railway station which was quite nice to enjoy first thing in the morning watching the early French commuters. There is supposed to be a bar at this hotel but, despite careful searching and observation I did not discover the bar. In the town of Dax itself, there is a large lake with attendant facilities as well as a beautiful cathedral so please spend some time in the time to discover more.

It is cheap so you can't expect too much. The room we had was tiny, there's no air conditioning and with no window the room gets warm and stuffy. The beds were ok, and bathroom worked fine but it is tiny. There is no lift and the parking lot is at the side of the building and at night there is no light so it can be hazardous parking when there is already quite a few cars. At ground level there seemed to be a bar and it is also where they serve breakfast. Reception was nice and check in was smooth, WiFi was good.

After a long drive I was ready to eat and sleep! We were greeted by a lovely young lady and checked in easily. The room was a bit bare but clean sheets, towels and a hot shower! All we needed really but not a very welcoming room. They are having renovations so hopefully things will improve. We did not have breakfast as we were leaving early. The hotel was quiet. If you just want a hotel that is clean and good value then this is ok.
