Chateau De Sully

Absolutely stunning food. 8 amazing dishes. Fantastic staff in an unbelievable setting.

A FUÏRE!!!! The castle is beautiful from the outside but the rooms are very disappointing Not up to a 4-star rating. Just a 2 star They are small and old, without elevator To be avoided for disabled or elderly people On the other hand restaurant is said gourmet: the service is not up to standard (odd on allergies, really not warm welcome.... Really disappointing stay I do not recommend at all

We had a very enjoyable, and relaxed, stay at the Le Chateau de Sully. We stayed three nights on a half-board basis. The evening meal superb (although some things may be strange to the English palette). Simple, but good, buffet breakfast that included bacon and scrambled eggs and all the staples of a continental breakfast. The hotel, set in 3 hectares of grounds, is reached by a long tree lined drive – you know immediately that you have arrived at a small, 25 room, luxury hotel. Our room was on the top floor and was decorated to a high standard (although we understand some of the hotel is still being restored). The room came with a Nespresso Zenius Professional Coffee and hot water machine and free bottled water (that was replenished each day) plus a selection of snacks and other drinks for a fee. We enjoyed the glass roofed swimming pool and sauna and just sat chilling in the grounds. The pool was 29C and 1.49m at the deep end. As the Châteaux is in open countryside, and the fields were being harvested, there was a slight problem with flies in the pool, but there was a net available and the issue was soon sorted. The current Chateau was built around 1720, with the dovecote dates to the 16th century. The hotel has a leaflet about its history: The Chateau has only been a hotel since 1985. During WW2 it was occupied by 250 German troops under General Dietrich of the 352nd Infantry Division and Walter Korbes of the 723rd Infantry Division. The South Wales Borderers attacked the Chateau in June 1944; the Chateau then becoming the headquarters of the British Air Force. An aerodrome was built on the fields facing the Chateau. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the day trips we did from the Chateau. It was a very relaxing place to stay with a nice lounge, gardens, leisure facilities and excellent food all made more relaxing via the limited number of guests that the Chateau can accommodate.
