B&B Lille Centre Grand Palais

Fine budget hotel, rooms were clean, just no fridge present, breakfast was adequate and with variety, something for everyone, plus is the parking under the hotel, parking is completely closed, parking is wide enough, stood there with suv and did not feel like it was cramped. Distance to center is 25min walk.

It’s about a 30 minute walk from the Eurostar terminal and a similar walk to the city centre, so not very useful for exploring Lille. There isn’t anywhere to eat nearby, except a grim looking restaurant/bar and nobody seemed to eat at the hotel while we stayed. Breakfast was popular, I’m not sure why as it was €13 per person and looked very average. Bedrooms overlook a major road, so you can’t open the windows. Security is zero as you can walk in and take the stairs or lift without the reception even seeing you. Staff were all very nice, but the hotel is very basic. We stayed in a ‘Superior’ room, so I can’t imagine how unimpressive the standard rooms are. There is no booklet in the room to outline the hotel facilities or local amenities, no phone to call reception and no milk for the tea/coffee maker. It’s a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest metro station (unmanned) past bleak flats (where we saw a kid kick a door in) past a plethora of disturbed people begging. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for, so pay a bit more and stay in the centre of the city and not on the crust outskirts

Great location to walk to downtown Lille. The staff was very helpful. Well designed room. Clean. Quiet. Good bedding. Private parking very useful.
