Before explaining my low rating, I want to acknowledge that our suite was modern, clean, and spacious—especially by Paris standards. Unfortunately, several issues made this the worst hotel stay we’ve ever had, even compared to lower-tier hotels.
1. Upon arrival, there was a strong, unpleasant smell in the lobby that spread throughout the hotel, including our room. While issues can happen, it was unacceptable that management did not address it promptly. This occurred on a Saturday, and management did not come until Monday. For a 4-star hotel, I would expect this to be treated as an urgent issue.
2. There was no air conditioning, which felt misleading. We were told it was too early in the season, yet temperatures were above 72°F. Our top-floor room became uncomfortably hot. Opening windows wasn’t an option due to the smell entering the room. Fans were provided, but this is not the standard I expect from a 4-star hotel.
3. The shower water temperature fluctuated unpredictably, turning hot or cold when water was used elsewhere, either in our room or possibly in others.
