Grand Hotel Loreamar Thalasso And Spa

We returned to this beautiful establishment once their renovation was finished, and it is always a treat. Perfect room, spa area revisited with very fine craftsmanship, top-notch staff, and an always excellent breakfast!

Disconcerted by this hotel... a beautiful facade, substantial prices (over €1200 a night for a junior suite with a terrace) but the final impression is mixed. The view (the major asset) from our first-floor terrace was good but not that breathtaking. And the room, a bit too long and narrow with a cramped bathroom and tub area. Small touches: (the half bottle of champagne-(unfortunately vinegary) upon arrival, the little chocolates in the evening) but hiding real stinginess when one dares to ask for ice cubes at the bar: a single machine (!) a few ice cubes maybe or some crushed ice but no more. I had the experience twice with two waitresses who suddenly went on the defensive... One finds this impression of cost-cutting a bit upon arrival (a poor reception desk, a single elevator, dim lighting in the hallways...). A good mark for the friendly concierge valet. I think that if I came back to Saint Jean de Luz, I would still explore other hotels.
