M Gallery hotels are always very curated and beautiful. Lyon had several, but only one had a five star rating and it was this one. The website looked promising, and I upgraded the room to a superior with view.
The room was large and comfortable with fantastic views. But it stops there. The furniture is worn and torn and showing signs of its age. The lobby is undergoing a renovations and construction crews are everywhere. The "makeshift" lobby is tiny and has zero ambiance.
No restaurant, no lobby, no lobby bar. On top of that a room thats dated and tired. Carpet was worn and torn. The AC barley cooled and I was sweating both nights. I told the staff and they never followed up with me, t was not important to them.
Employees were all very nice and friendly. But not trained in five star hotel service. I arrived and was told "passport and credit card please" no welcome to xxxxx etc. She was super nice and had a smile, but all of it felt more like check-in at a 4 star hotel.
The first night I got no turndown service. The second night housekeeping knocked and I was in room. She put a bowl of chocolate in front of me and said "chocolate for you ?" I took two and she said goodbye. That was the extent of the turndown.
I purchased five star and barley got 4. Do not stay here until after the renovation. Im sure after that it will be great. On the plus side, the location of this hotel is one of the best in the city.

Hotel in full renovations: no restaurant, no properly functioning air conditioning, noise and disturbance. Very friendly and courteous staff who were very helpful. Very bad for such an institution that no notification about the work was reported in advance during and after the booking!

Great location for city sightseeing this hotel offers a good standard of accommodation and service. There are currently renovation works in progress which means there's no evening restaurant facility and the reception area is a temporary arrangement. Apparently these works should be completed by end of August 2026. This said we suffered no issues with noise or disruption. The staff here are friendly and helpful and there remains a concierge service despite the temporary reception. The rooms are in need of a little maintenance - cupboard doors that wobble, furniture that is tarnished, shaving mirrors that need fixing, but they are clean and well appointed. Breakfast is available in a nicely decorated dining area and the food and service are good offering a nice selection of breakfast fare including freshy cooked eggs to order. It's a hotel to return to when the refurbishment is completed especially to sample the new restaurant.
