MERCURE CENTRE PLAZA REPUBLIQU

I booked a double room through Direct/Booking. They gave me a dreadfully small single room. When I complained and showed them my reservation, they changed my room without a problem. The bed is good, with air conditioning, acceptable size, there is no noise, and the bathroom is fine. The location is excellent, very central. The negative points are the bedside tables, two small stools where you cannot leave objects because they fall off, and the low water pressure in the shower. It took me a long time to wash my hair. What bothered me a lot was that when checking out, they wanted to charge me for the room change. I showed my reservation to the person at the front desk again, and they understood it then. I do not understand why it was not resolved at check-in, since the mistake was theirs. I must also add that the employees are impolite, as when I greeted them upon entering or leaving, they almost never answered me. Anyway, I would have given it a four, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth.

As other reviews state, location is the big selling point for this hotel. The staff is courteous and there are some nice little touches in the lobby, like flavored water. There is a good selection at breakfast and there are tables outside which is great in good weather as there doesn't seem to be loads of traffic in the area. The rooms are small and I found them to be claustrophobic. The our room's decor was dark to begin with and then very small windows and drapes covering them made a big impression. There are nice room amenities and a small refrigerator.

This hotel is well situated. The staff were friendly, the rooms adequate and the hotel is situated centrally.
