La Verniaz Et Ses Chalets

The hotel, which is a former farmhouse with a slightly old-fashioned side, is very authentic and cozy. Our room was located in the hotel at the top of the garden; the classic lake-view room on the 3rd floor was very large, old-fashioned decor but very clean, closets for storing your clothes, a small balcony with chairs and a table, and a superb view of the lake, garden, and the whole Swiss side. Bathroom, with a bathtub and a shelf for storing your things. Room very well soundproofed; you don't hear the noises from the other rooms or the bathrooms at all. On the other hand, no fridge in the room, contrary to what was written in the description on the internet... On the restaurant side, the dishes are very good, the staff is smiling and gives good advice on wines, but since the menu is always the same, we only went there 2 times during our 6-day stay! No new suggestions each day.... Too bad! The pool is pleasant and there are enough lounge chairs, but there is no bar service; I had to go get my tea myself and, more importantly, bring it back to the pool without anyone offering to bring it to me! For a 4-star hotel, that is a bit much! A positive point for the shuttle service: you order it and it drops you off wherever you want in the town of Evian, until 2 a.m., so it is very convenient for going out to dinner in town. Clearly, it is not at a 4-star level in terms of services; you often have to look for staff, whether at the front desk or the bar... at the price of the rooms, you expect to have something else. And when I made all these comments to the person at the front desk upon leaving, she replied to me, "You should have asked and we would have brought a fridge up to you!" and for the restaurant: "We have dish suggestions, but you have to ask!" Unbelievable as responses, never seen that in a hotel... it is up to the guest to guess everything!!! It really is a shame, because the place is super relaxing, in a magnificent, green setting, but there are many things to improve...

Lovely property and cute room with room for improvement. Given the price, our stay was “ok”. Sold 3 star hotel, definitely not 4 star. As guests, the restaurant could not accomodate our family for lunch because of a conference. We have small children and it’s a remote location so this was very inconvenient. Breakfast buffet food offerings were nearly empty one morning with no service member in site. Dinner was very good but given the limited menu we did not want to return more than one night. A better attempt should be made to control the flies and bugs as they were pretty unbearable both inside and outside. Pool: no service attendants were ever present by the pool and it was not possible to have drinks or food there. There was one warm bottle of water with dirty cups in the outdated and poorly kept fitness area where many machines were broken. This should really be improved. Overall the hotel was under staffed during our stay and we always had to seek someone to help us. Bathroom amenities need improvement (no hair dryer or wash cloths in the Prime apartment Suite). Lovely setting. With more effort, staff training and renovation this could be a really nice boutique experience. Need to make more effort to accomodate families and prioritize guests vs special events. We were able to enjoy the offerings of the sister properties and access town quite easily.

A green setting, old hotel with good bedding. For those who like the charm of the old without technological progress.. Friendly and helpful staff. No fridge in the room and no magnifying mirror in the bathroom. The restaurant is average. With a good renovation, this place would be ideal.
