HOTEL DE LA BASILIQUE

A really excellent family run hotel perfectly located right in the heart of Albert, with stunning views of the Basilica of Our Lady of Brebières. Plenty of nearby bars and restaurants but the hotel has its own excellent kitchen. On the Friday night we dined, it was packed and the food was excellent. The rooms were well appointed with a separate shower, sink and WC. There was a kettle, a couple of sachets of coffee and t bags. No milk though. Very friendly owner and staff and we were made to feel very welcome. It’s perfectly located if you are visiting the Somme battlefields and cemeteries.

It is a perfect location for exploring the town and nearby historic sites. The room was clean, spacious, and quiet for a very reasonable price. I enjoyed the friendly hello from the employees whenever I entered/left! I ate at the attached restaurant one night and it was very good. Typical French cuisine which is what I wanted. I highly recommend!

Small room, but comfy bed. Tiny bathroom and shower. Ear plugs needed (as seems common in French hotels) because they put massive springs but no noise cushioning on the doors, so the whole building seems to shake when a door slam shut. Kettle in the room, but 1 tiny coffee strip means you will only get half a small cup of coffee. Why so mean? Not much on offer for breakfast
