Hotel De Normandie

The hotel is the stuff of nightmares and does not meet any expectations and description is deceitful. Parking: We had reserved parking, when asked for the instructions it said parking was reserved and to open: 16h-19h. We expected this to be the door code it was not - as it turns out the hotel is only open from 16:00 to 19:00 otherwise there is no check-in or place to leave your bags. We were lucky as another guest arrived and let us in so we could stall the car. Before doing so we had to see who would leave first as the parking is set-up that the car infront has to leave before the back car. This was ridiculous as it requires advance coordination between guests as to who parks where. The garage door is heavy and operates manually and you have to park on a busy street to open and close it. Unsafe: Then entering the garage to reception were all the spare keys to the rooms - anyone can easily take the spare key and copy it and place it back as it is not behind a lock. Nor is there reception present, nor is it within view of reception when reception is there. This is particularly disturbing as a violent fight erupted before the frontdoor of the hotel. So with that level of street violence you want to be the only one with a key to your room - which you have no way of knowing. Unclean: Then entering reception was so disgusting - it smelled of mold and the stairs were covered in cobwebs. We decided if hygiene was this bad we need not see the rooms. We decided to leave again and pay for a different hotel. The hotel we ended up staying at was 5euros more expensive but was safe and clean.

Excellent for a 2-star. Excellent value for money. Excellent and attentive service and reception. Hotel and room very clean. Comfortable bedding. Excellent location in the city center, just a 3-minute walk from the train station. Simple breakfast but with enough to satisfy everyone, both sweet and savory. I have experienced continental breakfasts that were worse in better-rated hotels. I highly recommend it for a very short stay, which is more than enough to visit Amiens.

Bedbugs... sounds of fighting... smells of joints and cold tobacco. We fled the second night without asking for a refund and we took a hotel elsewhere: double paid night!!!! That's gross! We disinfected all our belongings on our way home: we must report a health risk!
