Hotel am Schelztor

The hotel is clean but simply furnished. You can't say anything about breakfast either. However, it was quite cool throughout the house and in the breakfast room guests preferred to wear jackets and sweaters. The summit, however, was the bathroom. There is no heating that you can regulate yourself. Unfortunately, the hotel management wanted to save electricity or heating costs at the expense of the guests. The bathroom was like a fridge. You can't do that. Subsequent requests were deliberately ignored... therefore not recommended.

My 78-year-old mother and I booked this hitel due to its proximity to the Christmas market. A main criterion for booking was a parking space, as we drove almost 300 km and my mother is not so good on foot and also carrying suitcases is a problem. A parking space reservation was not necessary according to the hotel description, yet I wanted to play it safe and asked for it. Reservations not possible according to the hotel. Have therefore checked again whether the number of parking spaces or any restriction is mentioned, incorrect display. We therefore arrived there with good cheer and anticipation. There was no one at the reception at first. After a few minutes of waiting, I took the liberty of shouting hello towards the kitchen. The “I’ll be right there” was already unkind. Regarding our question which parking space we should take came the information, there is no one available, we would have to enter the parking garage almost 500 m away. I then kindly noted that the parking was a main criterion for our booking and the room rate of over € 157 per person includes the parking space in my opinion and how we deal with it now, if I could pull the parking garage, since nowhere is mentioned that the parking spaces are limited. The “nice” answer was we had booked through booking.com and should do that with them, but we could also cancel, they allow us. However, we did not travel to spend the afternoon with hotel search, therefore this review. The “Comfort EZ” were worth a maximum of € 60 per night from the unloved decorator. Thanks for € 18 extra parking fees and the hassle!

Horrible place. I couldn’t wait to leave. It felt dirty and smelled like cigarettes. The front desk lady’s dog was chained up in the lobby barking and growling at everyone. Very small room. Outdated and dirty. I was afraid to walk on the filthy carpet. A total nightmare. Only good thing was the location in beautiful Esslingen.
