Hotel Hohengasthof Gruner Baum

We spent a week at the Hotel Grüner Baum. We were greeted as announced with a note and the information that the key is in the room. The room was cozy, clean, and had a balcony. The breakfast buffet was fine, but a bit monotonous. We missed a bit of variety. We had dinner at the restaurant. The staff there was very friendly and attentive. We missed a bit of personal contact... Apart from the lady at breakfast and the waiter at dinner, we rarely saw a staff member. Otherwise, we had a nice vacation.

We were really looking forward to our stay at the Hotel & Restaurant Grüner Baum – Die Grüne Oase am Feldberg. The many positive reviews convinced us – and that is exactly what makes our experience so frustrating. Only on the spot did we learn why the reviews are so one-sided: Everywhere, it is pointed out that you should either give a maximum star rating – or none at all. Anyone who has experienced something negative is urged not to write a review. This has frankly shocked us and seems manipulative. Our stay itself was unfortunately disappointing. • The staff was not particularly friendly and we did not feel welcome. • The hotel did not meet expectations. • Worst of all, however, was the feeling that honest criticism is undesirable and deliberately suppressed. We are disappointed because we relied on the reviews and in the end felt we had fallen into a completely distorted representation. For us it is clear: We would not choose this hotel again and cannot recommend it.

A super rustic hotel. Very clean rooms and great Service. Pure relaxation... in the evening you can hear the small stream rushing and the crickets chirping. The bed was super comfortable. A kettle, tea and coffee are available in the room. So if you can’t do without the first coffee in the morning 😉 It was great for me. For excursion destinations our hostess was available with advice and deed. A very familiar flair is established super quickly. The food was very good, we had a 4 course menu and despite menu a great selection of main courses. You can eat on the great terrace or in the restaurant. Breakfast is plentiful and a great selection. There's something for everyone. Very great I found the homemade jam 😀 mhhh very fine! We felt very comfortable! Thank you for the great hospitality!!! Keep it up! Greetings Sebastian and Jacqueline
