The Heidelberg Exzellenz Hotel

The hotel is ideally located for a visit to Heidelberg, about 5 minutes from Bismarckplatz. You can take the tram to Bismarckplatz or the bus to Seestrasse, from where there are very good connections in all directions. You can also reach the old town on foot in just a few minutes, and the hotel allows you to escape the noise of pubs and the old town. My room was well furnished, everything was clean, the bathroom was new, the Wi-Fi worked, the breakfast room is very nice, and the breakfast is really good for a 3-star hotel. However, in the summer, it is uncomfortably warm in the non-air-conditioned rooms; you can only escape this by choosing a more expensive hotel with air conditioning. I arrived later than planned due to a train delay; there is a key box, the number is emailed, and you can call to receive the code without any issues. I would gladly come back here.

Unfortunately disappointing. Our room was directly under the roof and was extremely (!) heated upon our arrival in the evening. A portable air conditioning unit (with a hose going out the window...) was available - but not turned on! The heat was barely bearable all night, making the stay quite uncomfortable. (With the hose going out the window, one cannot close the curtains, meaning: The room cannot be properly darkened. These circumstances should be more clearly pointed out when booking. For us, the price-performance ratio does not add up, despite the good location, as it is unacceptable in the heat! We wanted to stay longer but left after one night.

Very nice hotel, a reasonable walking distance from the city center. The rooms are clean and the one we had had had a mini kitchen with everything you need. Unfortunately you can hear all the noises of the upstairs room and the street. Cute breakfast area with an acceptable variety of products but nothing more, all self service. Negative note, the name of the foods is only in German. Completing the review, if you arrive outside the scheduled hours, since the reception is closed, not having anyone to ask even the simplest questions is not the best.
