Hotel Restaurant Krokodil

As someone who visited Heidelberg for tourism, I expected more; it would have been better to call "Krokodil" a guesthouse rather than a hotel. It is about a ten-minute walk to the city center; The rooms are old but clean; they lack air conditioning and a refrigerator, though there is a fan in the room. The staff are very polite and friendly, and they do their utmost to meet your needs.

Stayed here for 2 nights on our motorcycle trip to Europe in June, we had booked the garage which was excellent. The location is great as it’s in a nice neighbourhood about a 25 minute walk to the old town along the river. The entrance is old and has information about the buildings historic past which is interesting, our room 104 was large , comfortable and had a lovely modern bathroom with a waterfall shower. Check in was quick efficient and very friendly, reception helped when my husband had heatstroke and needed more water this was much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent value with all staff being very friendly ( great choice if tea and a real pot). We ate at the restaurant attached and the interior was very historical with beautiful tiles etc, we chose to sit outside and the food was very good with large portions and quick service. The restaurant was popular with locals and had a good atmosphere, like the rest of the hotel the staff were friendly. We enjoyed our stay and if returning to Heidelberg would stay there again.

This small hotel is centrally located in a quiet side street. Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, the only drawback was the breakfast buffet, very elementary, but one could breafast until 11 am on weekends and check out at 12 - very good!
