Our conclusion first: Don't bother. We decided spontaneously to drive to Titisee. Our regular hotel was unfortunately fully booked, so we booked this accommodation. We really travel a lot, especially as spa-goers, and we are absolutely not picky. We need neither luxury nor designer furniture and have absolutely no problem with older hotels. Our regular hotel in Titisee is also not ultra-modern. But old and simple is something completely different than cheap, loveless, and completely overpriced. Already upon arrival, there was no parking space left. So we had to park somehow in the area in front of the owners. Fine, it can happen. The key worked without any problems. After that, however, the accommodation's first leisure activity had already begun: Scavenger hunt – find your room. In the hallway, simply nothing was clearly labeled. No orientation, no clear signs. You walk through a former residential building that was apparently converted into accommodation as cheaply as possible, and you are left to figure out for yourself where anything is located at all. When we had finally found our room and opened the door, we were simply speechless. Is this seriously supposed to be our room? The room did not seem charmingly old to us, but simply cheap and furnished without any care. Old furniture, old windows, and extremely thin walls. Everything that happens out in the hallway can be heard practically right in the room. Privacy or any kind of pleasant hotel feeling? None whatsoever. And then came the real kicker. We had booked a budget double room that is explicitly described as having its own bathroom. There was a sink in the room. That was it for the "own bathroom" for the time being. So, next question: Where is the toilet, actually? Of course, also not marked anywhere. Welcome to scavenger hunt, round two. Eventually, we found the toilet somewhere down the hall. It wasn't particularly inviting, and it wouldn't even lock properly. Honestly: Some train station toilets have more charm. Until we had entered this room, we knew nothing about any of this. Based on the description, there was also absolutely no reason for us to assume that we would get a room without a private bathroom. When I book a room with a private bathroom, I actually assume that I will also get a private bathroom. Crazy expectation, I know. At that point, we had had enough. We packed our suitcases back up and drove home. And now let's get to the price: 120 euros for the whole thing. Sorry, but no. For what is offered there, we personally wouldn't even consider 50 euros to be reasonable. And that is exactly why I do not accept the argument that one shouldn't expect much from a "budget room." Our regular hotel in Titisee costs practically the same amount. There we get a real hotel room, a private bathroom, privacy, and a standard that fits the price. Why should we have assumed at practically the same price that we would be met here with an extremely noisy room in a converted residential building, with a sink in the room and a toilet somewhere down the hall? Especially not when "private bathroom" is explicitly advertised. We simply got the impression: turn a former residential building into accommodation as cheaply as possible, invest as little as possible, and hope that tourists will pay the price because of the location in Titisee. To charge 120 euros for that, you first have to be able to keep a straight face. Our advice is therefore very clear: Don't bother. For us, it was: arrived, completed the scavenger hunt, were stunned, packed our suitcases again, and drove home. 120 euros down the drain – at least we slept well in our own bed for that. Never again.

An imposition for around 120 euros – the room description did not correspond to reality. We must admit that we had not looked at the accommodation in every last detail before booking. The pictures made a consistent impression, and in terms of price, the room was in a range that we already knew from other guesthouses and hotels in Titisee. Accordingly, we had no reason to expect what awaited us on site. Finding the room was unnecessarily difficult, as there was practically no reasonable signage in the building. Once we arrived in the room, the real surprise followed: tiny, old, musty-looking, and so cramped that you could hardly move around properly. In addition, it was extremely noisy. The first impression reminded us more of a prison cell than a guest room for around 120 euros – with the difference that a prison cell probably at least has its own toilet. That is exactly what we looked for in the room in vain. Finally, we discovered that the toilet was located separately across the hall. Particularly irritating: This toilet was not even lockable during our stay. We also looked in vain for a shower or a bathroom. And that brings us to the most serious point for us: We checked the description of the budget room we booked on Booking.com again after our stay. There, a private bathroom is explicitly stated for exactly this room category. This is not a question of different expectations or personal standards. When a room with a private bathroom is offered, we expect a private bathroom—and not a separate, non-lockable toilet across the hall and no bathroom in the room at all. For us, the advertised amenities simply do not match what we actually found on site. Especially for accommodation in this price range, this is absolutely unacceptable to us. Under these circumstances, an overnight stay was out of the question for us. To be honest, we didn't even want to try out the bed; the visual impression of the entire room was enough for us. We left again. The price-performance ratio is particularly offensive. We know other accommodations in Titisee in a comparable price range—and there are worlds of difference between them. For such a simple accommodation with these limitations, we would personally consider about 60 euros to be reasonable at most. We felt that around 120 euros was completely excessive given what was actually offered. The behavior after our early departure did not improve our impression: After it was apparently noticed that we had not stayed, the booking was canceled. However, we did not receive a refund. We cannot know what the specific reason for this subsequent cancellation was. However, the question certainly arises for us as to why an already paid booking is canceled after our departure if the guest is not refunded any money at the same time. Our conclusion is therefore clear: We felt massively deceived and ultimately ripped off due to the advertised room amenities, the price charged, and the conditions we actually found. We cannot recommend this accommodation in any way. Based on our experience, we would not book a more expensive room here again either. Anyone still considering a booking should have it confirmed in writing in advance exactly which specific room is being booked and whether the advertised private bathroom, as well as the toilet and shower, are actually located in the room. For us, this accommodation was one of the most disappointing experiences we have had so far. Once and definitely never again.

A horror trip has come to an end. Nice to be back in civilization. Dear Mr. Landlord, You rented me a cozy double room of standard size with a balcony, bathroom, TV, and Wi-Fi. I expected a standard bathroom. What I found was a shower and a toilet with a mini sink, comparable to a camper setup. Additionally, it was damp, wet, and had an intense smell. The existing fan made noise but did not extract anything. A somewhat heavier person would have had the greatest problems inside. How is a woman supposed to put on makeup there? As a topic, there were two mini shower gels for one (!!!) week. That is not a standard bathroom in Germany! I have never seen anything like that in a guest room, or anywhere else, before!! You can offer such things, but you should inform your customers about it; they can then decide whether to accept it or not!! That would be fair. For breakfast: of course, I expected a standard breakfast. Not a luxury breakfast. But: coffee, rolls, sausage, cheese, and butter were rationed. That was also new for me. Especially the butter: there was a tiny piece for four (!!!) halves of rolls. Please try to manage that yourself once! You can proceed in this regard as well, but here too, your guests should be informed about it beforehand. I read in the reviews that at least friendliness was present. I probably caught the week of "unfriendliness." Had I been informed about the circumstances at your place beforehand, I certainly would not have shown up. The price cannot explain everything; certain minimum standards should always be maintained, and €113 per night is certainly not insignificant. Overall rating: not recommendable in any way. Where do the 5/5 ratings actually come from????
