Hotel-Pension Thome

We were 2 couples from France and we stayed for 4 days with half board. Very disappointed by the services in this beautiful region. The exteriors are in a deplorable state. The breakfast. The jams are on the table throughout the stay. The butter is frozen and the rolls are too hot to eat. The remarks from the owner were completely inappropriate. Ah, the French, fortunately my wife calmed me down because I was at my breaking point. The evening meals were more than mediocre.

Very good value for money, especially for such a classy place like Hinterzarten. Friendly and very accommodating, attentive hotelier. Rooms even have a hairdryer, small bottles of shower gel and body lotion, and lots of towels. TV works perfectly. WiFi works too. Rooms are structurally up to date. Breakfast and evening snacks are top notch. At breakfast there is even fresh fruit and various types of bread/rolls. As a special treat there was a shoe polishing machine. Mixing styles is a matter of taste. For ecological reasons, rooms are only cleaned if you have an explicit "green" card. It is important to book in good time, as ski jumping teams often stay there. And the best for last: one of the best locations in town!

Most importantly and I cannot stress this enough, stephan, the owner is the single best hotel host I have ever met. He was permanently available, kind and chatty, provided ideas for daytrips and activities and was ready to help at any time. The location is perfect for hiking and with the konus card you can easily visit nearby towns for free. There are not many cultural activities nearby but if you are only looking to see a few there are plenty of locations to go to with public transport. The rooms were big and had everything you need, had clean good beds and comfortable sofas to chill and play cards in the evening. The breakfast was plentiful and they seemed to never run out of anything no matter what we ate. Everything was fresh and really diverse. The prices are also incredibly reasonable which made our surprise even bigger when we found out what we got for it. I can't thank the owner enough and will be lucky if I find any host doing a better job then he did in the future, I wish him all the best!
