Gasthaus Hotel Backmulde

In our search for a quiet place to dine outside the Hauptstrasse in Heidelberg we come across this restaurant Backmulde in a side street. The Heidelberg Card gives another push in that direction because of an attractive discount. It turns out to be a good choice. The two waiters create a friendly atmosphere. The food is just right, including “Zander fillet” (walleye) and fowl. We enjoy, and watch with slight surprise how the space fills up almost completely in 2 hours, a good sign, for an average Saturday night.

Great location in the old town. Our room was very small and without closet, facing the courtyard. Very restless and noisy. The rooms were clean.

Very clean hotel. Short on everything. Nice room with air conditioning, safe and coffee and tea facilities and spacious bathroom. Too bad no minibar. Room was on the ground floor and accessible to less mobile people. Access was better kept clear. Were bicycles in the way. Breakfast was good but very ordinary. Could be better refilled and better presented. No coffee cakes or croissants. No fried bacon or sausages. The fruit could also be better in quantity to the number of people. Good restaurant.
