Hotel Central Heidelberg

We must avoid this hotel at all costs! I got a call around 4 o'clock asking me what time I'd be there. I thought it was weird. The receptionist urged me to arrive before 8. When I arrived, I was surprised that there was no room for me. I had been booked a room at another hotel about 11 minutes walk away, providing my personal details to another hotel without my consent. That was the reason for the call, they knew they wouldn't have a room for me but they didn't have the dignity to tell me! Shameful! They wanted me to pay for the two-night stay. After insisting I was paid for the taxi to the other hotel. They confirmed that they frequently receive guests from this hotel, because they do overbooking. I guess people don't complain because they pay for a hotel night. They intended for him to return the next day to spend the second night there. No kidding! I booked another hotel and complained to Booking, who returned my money. Because of this hotel, which looks old, they ruined my start of the trip! Please save yourself discomfort and do not book at this hotel!!!

Arrived at noon and were allowed to book in right away. Reception staff were very helpful. The hotel has probably seen better days but my room was a good size, clean and the bathroom had a walk in shower. No air conditioning. We had the buffet breakfast which offered a basic selection. The hotel is situated close to the main railway station so the surrounding area is busy into the late evening. There is a bus stop close by and the bus only takes about 15 minutes into the city centre.

The reception at this hotel closes at 9pm… this is not mentioned at booking… I was let inside by a guest… I called the phone number and got no response although I could hear it ringing… I don’t think this could be understood as a safe place to say when there is no one present and people who are not staying there can enter the building… I booked a room somewhere else
