Hotel Klosterbraustuben

We just spent two days on a half-board basis at this hotel. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. The hotel is very well located and the environment allows for numerous hikes, both on foot and by bike. All the common areas, including the dining room, the pool, etc., are very well maintained and impeccable. On the other hand, what somewhat spoiled our stay were the meals. The soups were often too salty and the main courses, quite basic and lacking flavor, were frequently overcooked and swimming in sauce. As for the desserts, they were very dense and unfortunately lacked finesse. It is a shame, because the hotel has many assets and the setting is truly pleasant.

We were at the Christmas market in Gengenbach and had booked a double room with breakfast. We got a room in one of the many outbuildings, very spacious and clean, with everything you need to sleep. The staff is friendly and helpful. Although it was very noisy in the breakfast room the next morning, the breakfast was just awesome, an exceedingly rich offer. I would book back anytime, unreserved recommendation.

The world of monastery breweries .... No longer worth a 3 star superior. Bulk handling! We had booked the small apartment Hahn and Henne for 3 days including breakfast. The apartment is nicely decorated but was unfortunately not clean. Lots of hair and dust clouds in the bathroom. Microwave smelled and was dirty. Dishes not clean. The hammer was the fridge when I opened it, all the water from freezer came towards me and everything was decorated with mould. Disgusting. One evening we ate on the terrace of the restaurant : had ordered venison ragout with "homemade späzle". First came the salad plate : not fresh at all in such heat. Then there was a very long waiting time until the food came ; so by no means were the HOME-MADE speckles .... macerated and sticky. Luckily we had no half board booked, there are quite good places to eat in the village. Breakfast buffet : nothing special, no high quality products, sweet pastries there was nothing except mini chocolate rolls that smelled funny. Next to it was an empty plate .... and already in the morning at 8h15. Buffet is not refilled regularly On the day of departure, when we paid, we weren't even asked if everything was okay. But reported the problems to the receptionist.
