Hotel Rottaler Hof

The hotel is a bit old and is being renovated little by little. In the simpler double rooms there are even older bathrooms with showers with "high entry". The rooms are still cozy, everything is clean and well maintained. The rooms to the street side are a little noisier, if you like it quiet, choose a room to the backyard or garden. Breakfast is rich and leaves nothing to be desired. The dinner was always excellent, varied and imaginatively arranged, high praise to the kitchen! The location of the hotel is top as it is located directly opposite the Rottal Terme and you have about 3 minutes walking time to the entrance to the termen. Car parking is available free of charge in front of the hotel or in the private underground car park.

This was our first time in this hotel. We know the place. We chose this hotel because it is only a 5-minute walk from the thermal baths. When we entered the hotel we were greeted by a musty smell. The hotel gave us an old impression and in need of renovation. The reception by the lady at reception was very friendly. (Our request for a room facing the garden when booking was granted). We were very surprised that there was no elevator, especially as we had a lot of luggage with us (room number from approx. 3-20). There seemed to be an elevator for the other half of the building. This musty smell followed us in the hallway. The room was small and plainly furnished, not modern, dark (due to the balcony above us, but large), we couldn't use it due to the weather, the bathroom was too warm even though the heating was off and small. Small kitchen, which is useless as we and most of the guests were eating out. So on the whole this hotel is showing its age. Breakfast was adequate but nothing special. The massage is recommended and of course costs extra, but it is excellent. Please take cash with you. Conclusion: Too expensive for what it offers. We won't be coming back.

Although we were there using a hotel voucher from INVENT and didn't have to pay any extra costs other than the tourist tax, we were extremely satisfied and were treated very kindly and courteously. The offer of half board for dinner including table drinks is really amazing. We were also able to redeem our INVENT additional voucher and really didn't have to pay any extra costs, as we were at the village fire brigade ball on the second evening and had dinner there. For the remaining amount we got a coffee and cake voucher which we were able to redeem on the second day, and the cappuccino was excellent there too, as was the cake. The breakfast buffet also left nothing to be desired: cheese and sausage platters were always the same, as were raw vegetables, Bircher muesli, plain and fruit yogurts, fruit salad and frozen berries, but that's OK. 5 different rolls to choose from and something special every day, sometimes scrambled eggs and bacon, sometimes white sausage and pretzels, sometimes boiled eggs and croissants - I think that's completely fine. The heating in our room was broken and heated like crazy, it couldn't be turned off; we told reception and we were able to move to another room without any further fuss. All of this with great, natural friendliness. The only small drawback is that they don't have their own sauna/swimming pool. They - rightly so - refer you to the thermal baths opposite. It's just a shame that you have to pay €8 to rent a bathrobe and over at the thermal baths it only costs €6. On the other hand, sauna towels in the hotel cost €4 and in the thermal baths €6. But if you have everything with you, it's not a problem. I can definitely recommend the hotel without reservation
