Asam Hotel Munchen

The hotel is closing down soon and nobody seems to care about it. It is advertised to be modern and stylish, but it is really outdated. The wall-to-wall carpet in the room was dirty, mirror in the bathroom broken and there were dirty towels hanging in the bathroom. The reception staff is unpolite. No working WiFi. They advertised private parking, but eventually they couldn't provide one. I can only suggest you to avoid this hotel.

After much research and despite some not so great reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided on Asam hotel as our base in Munich because of its location and reasonable rates and we were pleasantly surprised. The location cannot be faulted as it is right in the centre and 5 to 10 minutes walk from most sights. The whole area around the hotel is a pedestrian district and there are many shops and cafes and restaurants close by. Asam hotel has spacious rooms with simple furniture. On arrival we were given a kettle, cups and free tea bags for our room which was much appreciated. Our room had a mini fridge which was helpful. We were lucky that the weather was cool for June but I can see that in the summer a lack of AC might make it a bit warm. However this seems common in many European hotels. The staff we met were polite and friendly and helped with many enquiries and requests. We should particularly mention Ms Nino who let us use the hotel fridge for storing medicines. The rooms were serviced daily and the beds were comfortable. Parts of the hotel looked a bit worn and the lift was a bit creaky but that didn't affect our stay. Asam Start Hotel is good value for money and a great place to have as a base as you explore Munich. We look forward to returning.

It is ok, I must admit I got a very large room under the roofs with a separate salon with a sofa bed). I especially asked by booking for a quiet room at the back. My wish was not respected and the room on the front was loud. People on the street until 1 am and garbage trucks at 6:30. The room was adequate with an old fashioned marble bathroom a separate toilet. The man at the reception in the morning was a little sloppy, the one in the evening was very nice
