Hotel Andra Munchen

From the first night, we found ourselves without hot water in a family room. Throughout the entire stay, we received different excuses: that the mechanic was going to come, that we could shower in another room located in a different building, or that they would move us to two separate rooms between the first and fourth floors, something totally inappropriate when traveling with two small children. Finally, they changed our room on the fourth day, but the problem continued exactly the same. The most frustrating thing was the staff's attitude: every employee we spoke with seemed completely unaware of the situation, forcing us to explain the problem over and over again without anyone offering a real solution. The experience was pathetic and very frustrating. We were in Munich with temperatures above 30 °C and, even so, we could not shower normally. Furthermore, we consider that this hotel has a rating far above what it actually offers; it has at least two stars too many. Its only advantage is the location, about 10 minutes from the Central Station. It also doesn't help that the entrance is located in an alley, something that is not apparent in the establishment's photographs. Without a doubt, we would not stay here again nor would we recommend it.

The hotel is in an excellent location: central between Theresienwiese (where Oktoberfest and the Spring Festival take place) and the historic center. The rooms are quite spacious, the beds very comfortable (prefer the single beds to the double), and the breakfast is good. In general, the price-quality ratio is good. It must be said, however, that the hotel is vintage; it feels like walking into a scene from Derrick. The carpet should be changed, and the bathrooms redone (they are clean and tidy, but old). There is no air conditioning.

There are many many hotels in Munich, choose a different one from Hotel Andra. I paid for two nights here in error because the name was similar to the hotel I had booked. Because I was on my way to Munich from Rome, I asked a German friend to phone Hotel Andra the day before to cancel the room and get a refund. My friend to,d me she thought the person at reception could not understand German. I then wrote to the only available email address in German and English to explain. Hotel Andra did not have the courtesy to make any reply. I went to the hotel and saw someone face to face in reception. The ‘someone’ refused to give me their name, refused to give me the name of the manager and refused to contact the manager for me. €170 paid and exactly nothing, not even courtesy, given in return.
