Hotel Gasthof Stift

I was shocked to see some older disappointed reviews on here, because I stayed here last week and had a wonderful experience! This isn't a standard modern hotel, but it doesn't claim to be, and that's its charm. It's a traditional guest house with character, and it made me feel like I was experiencing something special. My room was small, but the perfect size for a solo traveller. It was cozy and clean, and it had all the amenities promised. The bed was cozy and comfortable, and the rooms had real keys. I loved the central location and great view, and every member of staff I interacted with was extremely friendly and helpful! I was particularly impressed by the delicious and generous breakfast. It was a traditional selection of meats, cheeses, breads, coffee, and juice. Definitely more than the sum of its parts! A friendly member of staff was continually offering to bring me more of anything I wanted. It was a shame I was only there for one night.

Unfortunately, despite its beautiful location on Rathausplatz, I cannot rate the restaurant well. The grilled pork medallions were too dry, the sauce too little for the spaetzle. On a cold and rainy February day, the guest room was also not heated enough. Too bad...

Rustic ambience in a very practical location. The room clean and functional, even sockets and trash are available. Unpleasant were the phone calls in the next room, which I had to overhear. The standing area in the bathroom is the size of a shower mat. You can't be very overweight there Breakfast very good, early in the morning plenty of choice, but a minus: Coffee from the thermospot, which is surprisingly good. Those who want to be cared for personally will be disappointed. Friendly one is, but it is essentially self-service Conclusion: good location, good price. I will book again
