Drexel's Parkhotel

This is a great value hotel!! It's clean, comfortable, in a prime location, and the staff is wonderful. I wasn't looking for a 5 star, expensive hotel, I was looking for a solid hotel in a great location. I was traveling with a pet and they were very accommodating and even gave her treats. I will recommend all of my visitors (I live in the region) to visit this town and stay in this hotel. I will be a return visitor for sure.

Never in an entry to a hotel (I must have stayed in close to 300 hotels around the world) have I encountered such a rude harridan as the one who worked the evening shift at Drexel’s Parkhotel. No hello, no how are you, just a bark of ‘have you got a reservation?’ And when I said yes, she seemed put out to the extreme. ‘Fill in this form!’ the harridan uttered. ‘We have had undesirables staying here who have caused mayhem’. I asked why she wanted my home address (especially when I could have easily made one up) and she screeched, ‘We just do!’ Then it was up to the room: basic is the word of choice. Basic but expensive could be two. No fridge, no AC (on a hot August night - though a small fan was provided), no kettle, no fridge. But the room was clean. But the choice for the evening was having the window open (and enduring the 5am street cleaning machinery from hell) or sweating in the cube room. We opted for both at various points. We have no idea about breakfast because the Drexel Harridan didn’t mention it. The next morning, when we checked out, there was younger woman behind the desk. In direct contrast to the first woman, she was kind and friendly. She needs to give her colleague some immediate training at basic customer service. The harridan was clearly trained at a youth offenders prison.

An ageing hotel. The rooms were clean but very old, just like the bathroom. Too expensive for the room I had. Breakfast was fine, the white sausages were still cold. No on-site parking. Centrally located in the city center of Memmingen.
