Courtyard by Marriott Munich City East

Not a great hotel, especially for Marriott elites. The rooms are small and despite being recently updated the bathrooms are old with grime on the tiles in the shower. Breakfast was not included despite being Platinum (an increasingly annoying trend for Marriott hotels). Had to contact the hotel to get telephone charges reversed - all to the same number during a time I was not in the room so I suspect the cleaning staff used the phone while cleaning the room. The hotel is walking distance to Ostbahnhof station which is well connected to central Munich but the area itself is very average. The stay was a redemption which was a reasonable number of points, especially during Oktoberfest. I would have given the hotel 1 star if it had not been a good value redemption during a time where hotel prices are high. Lots of better options throughout Munich. Unless there’s a reason to stay near Ostbahnhof, choose something else in a more central part of Munich.

The Courtyard convinces me for my Munich visits due to its location. The rooms and especially the beds are fine, the rooms facing the courtyard are quiet, the bathroom is functional. Unfortunately, the service disappoints me again and again.

I recently stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Munich City East and found the hotel to be conveniently and centrally located, making it suitable for both business and leisure travel. The standard double room was notably spacious and included a small minibar, which added to the comfort of the stay. However, the check-in and check-out process was somewhat time-consuming, as not all reception desks were staffed, leading to unnecessary waiting times. The breakfast buffet was of medium size and quite busy during peak hours. While the selection was good, the additional charge of €27 per person felt rather expensive and not fully justified in terms of value for money. On a positive note, the staff were consistently friendly and professional, which helped improve the overall experience.
