Schwanstein Hotel

Never again!!!!!!! We have never experienced anything like this, and we love to travel and travel very often. Completely unkempt, worn-out, aging rooms that smell disgustingly of dog and the carpet is full of stains. We were never informed that dogs are welcome in the room and hotel. Dirty, ancient bathroom with mold on all the grout, hardly any light in the bathroom, the bathtub sooooo small and worn out that one had neither the space nor the desire to use it. Much too small toilet lid that was lying loosely on the toilet. In addition, the toilet was also dirty. Price-performance ratio was abysmal. Towels with veeeeeery clear signs of wear. Veeeeeeery loud, because there is a restaurant in the basement, partying until 2 a.m. Breakfast was borderline simple. At 8:30 a.m. there was no more bread, and when asked, we got a rude answer from the boss, who was the personification of unfriendliness anyway. Apparently she doesn't feel the need to be friendly, since renting out the place is a sure-fire success. Hotels and vacation rentals are booked out everywhere, which is why this hotel is also booked out, regardless of how friendly you are or whether the rooms are clean. It was simply frustrating. Unfortunately, we didn't read any reviews beforehand. That will never happen to us again.

Location - 5/5 Cleanliness - 2/5 (very old room and bathroom, very dusty room) Service - 5/5 (except at checkout — we have key back and greeted with a grunt from the woman as she threw the lay in a box and walked away.) Comfort - 2/5 (bed was good, foam topper. Pillows were abysmal, basically non existent down pillow. We took the duvet out of their covers and rolled into pillows) Amenities - 1/5 (bathroom tanks this area of review. Flashbacks to university dorm bathroom. Tiny, old. Plus the room overall had a dusty feeling) Room Quality - 2/5 (overall, very low here for all the reasons above, plus the skylight in room let in bright light all night, plus tapping of rain) Value for Money - 3/5 Food & Dining - 4/5 Atmosphere/Vibe - 3/5 Accessibility - 1/5 no elevator Safety & Security - 5/5 Check-in/Check-out Process - 4/5 Experience/Entertainment Options - 5/5 fabulous location to cross the street and walk the path to the castle. ***only reason to book this hotel***

I put that 4 out of 5 because we were under the attic my husband is tall I would have liked a room on the 1st floor more it was very hot a fan was not luxury we had to open the window but mosquitoes were in. But otherwise the stay was great the very friendly staff listening to guests despite the language barrier they were trying to please us. We ate at the hotel restaurant it was excellent “Italian specialities”.
